My name is Melissa and I am a mother of four. Two kids from a previous marriage, an acquired son from my new husband, and an ours baby.
We live in a small town just outside the GTA.
We like camping and fishing and demolition derbies.
I was always a little “heavier” and decided to commit to a healthy lifestyle after the birth of my last baby. I lost 40lbs, won $10,000 in a fitness competition. I spent months after that chasing the elusive dream of being “super fit” – but I never found myself truly happy.
I eventually put my fitness goals on the back burner and started fresh. I gave this whole thing a facelift. What if weight loss wasn’t the answer? What if happiness came from a different place?
I started to gain some of the weight back. I ate without inhibition, I started exercising without a goal, and I started speaking out about body positivity.
This blog is full of personal and (hopefully) relatable experiences. I hope to share the raw and honest truth about mental health and how our personal stories can shape us into who we are.
Oh, and I also run a cupcake business.
