Ditch the diets

I started following my passion in 2017 to coach women (and men) to lose weight and get into the best shape of their lives. We all cut calories, hit the gym 5-6 days a week. People joined my 6-8 week challenges and went BALLS TO THE WALL to hit a goal weight.

Then what?

The challenge ended and people felt lost. They went back to old habits in order to “reward” their hard work. Rewards turned into binges, and days off turned into weeks off.

The cycle repeats itself…

You see, losing weight doesn’t solve problems. It doesnt create happiness. It doesn’t guarantee promotions or fix relationships, nor does it get rid of sadness in your heart.

When you go into a fitness program with the sole expection that it’s going to be hard now (short term) and get better later once the “diet” is over, and once you’re skinny all your dreams come true… then you’re setting yourself up for failure.

I decided I wanted to change my approach.

Instead of weightloss challenges, I opted for health challenges. They consisted of walking, lifting weights, HIIT workouts at home with no equipment, encouraging people to get outside more, self care, and yoga and/or meditation. I also wanted people to stop counting macros and calories, instead making mostly better choices.

Life should be about balance. Yes, you should live in a healthy way, but also in a way that is forgiving of yourself and your differences. Cellulite, stretch marks, loose skin, thick thighs… these are all parts of me that I have despite eating well and exercising 4-5 days a week.

I want people to start exercising and eating because it helps them sleep, helps control anxiety, clears your skin up, aids digestion, boots confidence and mood, and everything else in between.

You don’t need to cut calories and exercise for hours a day. You don’t need to stress over missing workouts. Life isn’t worth living if you can’t enjoy it.

So have the odd cupcake, take rest days, but make smarter choices. Slow and steady means lasting and sustainable.
